PRATT SUMMER:
Ro Khanna is asked about the LA Mayor’s race between Karen Bass and Spencer Pratt — and what it shows about how Californians are feeling towards Democrat incumbents.

Being angry about having your home burned down and having to share city streets with drug-addicted mentally ill homeless people, that’s definitely “MAGA-encoded:”

UPDATE:
Victor Davis Hanson: In collapsing California, Karen Bass is backed by two groups — ultra-wealthy elites safe in their bubbles and subsidized poor who are living better than back home.

Tweet concludes, “The carpenters, electricians, and delivery drivers keeping the cities functional pay the highest gas and income taxes in the continental United States. They fund the programs but receive none of the benefits. They earn too much to qualify for state subsidies but lack the millions required to buy their way into secure zip codes. Time for Spencer Pratt.”
HOUSTON, HERE I COME: Heading back to tell folks about HillFaith, as explained on my latest Substack column.
100 MILLION SEEMS (AHEM) A LITTLE MUCH, BUT POINT TAKEN:
Ron DeSantis won by less than half a percent (.4%) in 2018. Then he kicked something like ~800,000 fake voters off the rolls, and in 2022 he won by 19.4% and more than 1.5 million votes. That's what 100 million mass deportations will do for America. https://t.co/g4U3gAwhzM pic.twitter.com/fsimreabxa

UPDATE (From Ed): And that’s why the left no longer sounds like this anymore:
1995: CBS’s Dan Rather warns that Americans are being “replaced by foreigners.”
I found an entire one-hour episode of CBS’s 48 Hours about the harms of both legal and illegal immigration, titled “Slamming the door.”
Let’s go through the whole thing in detail.

● When Rahm Emanuel Called for “Record Deportations of Criminal Aliens.”
● Harry Reid in 1993: It’s insane to reward illegal immigrants by giving their children birthright citizenship.
● “Trump took to Twitter on Thursday to remind Democrats that even former President Barack Obama spoke out against illegal immigration. Trump dug up a 2011 tweet from former President Obama which said: ‘I strongly believe that we should take on, once and for all, the issue of illegal immigration.’ ‘I totally agree!’ Trump wrote, retweeting the former president.”

AT LEAST SHE’S NOT IN TOTAL DENIAL: And thank goodness, the execrable phrase “mostly peaceful” won’t fly with common-sense people. Just the News reports that Gov. Mikey Sherrill:
“Shortly after midnight Sunday, Sherrill put out a statement acknowledging the severity of the violence and saying it had “put peaceful protesters and law enforcement in danger.” She blamed agitators outside New Jersey for the escalation.”
Newark’s mayor added that: “Mayor Ros J. Baraka admitted some were arrested in possession of weapons, necessitating a curfew.”
This can go one of three ways:
(1) it’s funded by Soros or Singham-linked people but only after the detective work is done by investigative reporters;
(2) there are too many stupid people (Prof Glenn says “embrace the power of ‘and‘.); or
(3) this gets ignored by major media. It just never happened*
*Many lefists, especially of the reporter variety play dumb. Case in point, one young lady, very nice, but suffered what we call in First Amendment law “reckless disregard for the truth.” I asked her her views on “Fast and Furious” and she said (I believe her) that she’d “never heard of it.” If you live in a particular media bubble, the odds are good there’s a lot of stuff you’ve never heard of.
You can trash talk it as “conspiracy theory” but normal Americans just can’t ignore it anymore. And this underscores the power of Justice Brennan’s Times v. Sullivan‘s emotive authority to paraphrase:
“‘The free marketplace of ideas'” necessarily broadens the discourse of public understanding.
And now you know why I’m such a fervent supporter of non-legacy (or “new”) media: I want you to be heard.

IT’S MEL BROOKS’ WORLD; WE’RE JUST LIVING IN IT: Scientists Discover Surprising Anti-Aging Power Hidden in Aged Garlic.
Well yes, the 2,000 Year Old Man admitted to this 60 years ago: “In the classic comedy routine, The 2,000-Year-Old Man, Brooks is the title character and his good friend Carl Reiner is interviewing him. When Reiner asks Brooks how he has been able to live so long, he says, “It’s simple. I eat garlic. I’ve eaten it with every meal for 2,000 years. Whenever the Angel of Death came for me, I looked him right in the eye and said, ‘Whoooo are youuuu? The garlic on my breath always sent him packing.’”

Democrats in 1976 knew they had to muster some patriotic spirit to celebrate the Bicentennial. It helped that Gerald Ford was the last liberal go-along to get-along Republican president to date (unless you were worked on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, where he was viewed as the Antichrist).

Tweet continues, “There is this Gen Z misconception that the ’70s and early ’80s were some sort of economic golden age of readily available, well-paying jobs, low cost housing and an all around sense of prosperity. WRONG. Google ‘Stagflation.’ Google ‘gas lines.’ Google ‘mortgage interest rates in the 1980s.’ Our economy today is a golden age by comparison, without exaggeration. Yet somehow in 1976 we could gleefully celebrate our nation’s birthday without Democrats turning it into a Howard Zinn-inspired anti-history hatefest.”

Related: What Other Skeletons Are Lurking in Graham Platner’s Closet? “These new stories are primarily coming from (and being confirmed by) Genevieve McDonald, Platner’s former political director, who resigned in October. McDonald was the person charged with doing ‘internal oppo’ on Platner — the normal vetting process whereby a campaign frankly assesses all of their candidate’s potential personal and political weaknesses. And as all of these stories about Platner’s personal rottenness drip forth, all with immaculate sourcing and ironclad claims, I begin to ask myself: What remaining skeletons could possibly be hiding in Graham Platner’s closet that would make McDonald not only quit his campaign, but also potentially dynamite her own career in order to tell the truth about him? What are we about to find out next about Graham Platner?”
More: Graham Platner’s Senate Campaign Is Finished. Platner is “the man Maine Democrats chose over Gov. Janet Mills, who was an experienced, vetted, credible candidate who might have actually given Collins a real race. Instead, they went with an unvetted newcomer whose past was a minefield and whose judgment, apparently, never improved. They wanted fresh and exciting. They got this.”
QUESTION ASKED: Is Music Industry’s Blacklist Worse than Hollywood’s Version?
The gala promised a grand day of music on the National Mall July 4.
Yet some of the artists teased to appear quickly backtracked once the list went public.
A few claimed the event was too political and divisive, citing vague statements to allegedly back up the claim. Others, like Bret Michaels, said violent threats made them quit the tour.
“Concerns have also been raised regarding the safety of my fans, band, crew, family and myself, including threats that are completely unfounded and unforgivable.”
With about a month to go, what are Trump’s options?
Sadly true. So what now?
1) Stick with the Great American State Fair concept. Make it a sprawling display of the local economies and cultures of each of the 50 states.
2) De-celebritize the events. Don't try to book stars. Republicans have always lost at that game, and doubly so… https://t.co/UuUQ8Apocy— Byron York (@ByronYork) May 31, 2026
