IRAN CALLS UP THE DISTAFF VOLKSSTURM: Iran trains women to take up arms against new US offensive.

Iran is training women to use weapons and engage in urban warfare to defend against a possible US offensive.

Images and footage circulated by Iranian media outlets show women, some in uniform, learning to handle assault rifles at open-air training centres in Tehran.

Organisers say the courses cover urban defence, familiarisation with weapons from the Kalashnikov to the Dragunov sniper rifle, RPGs and shoulder-fired air-defence launchers, alongside rescue, firefighting and navigation modules designed specifically for women.

The drive is part of “Jan-fada” – Persian for “those who sacrifice their lives” – a mass-mobilisation movement launched this year after the US and Israel launched a bombing campaign against the country.

Sasan Zare, the campaign’s spokesman, said military training had begun under the Basij militia and that more than 500,000 people had registered within 100 minutes when enrolment opened for its “national resistance” battalions, filling the first 1,000 units.

Authorities have since approved a second 1,000 units. Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, who has not been seen since he was injured in the US-Israeli bombing in late February, praised the turnout in a message last week.

In 2018, the City of Boulder, Boulder County, and San Miguel County sued in Colorado state court arguing energy companies’ products fueled climate change and that the companies should cover whatever local costs these opportunistic politicians wanted.

Translation: Sell a legal product to willing customers around the world, and a county in Colorado can bill you for the weather.

Boulder insists it isn’t trying to regulate anyone’s emissions. One of its own lawyers forgot the script. David Bookbinder, who helped file the case for Boulder told a Federalist Society panel that tort liability is “an indirect carbon tax” and the lawsuit is “somewhat of a convoluted way to achieve the goals of a carbon tax.”

Congress has refused to pass a carbon tax for decades because voters won’t stand for one. So the activists went shopping for a courtroom instead.

An immigration activist group that receives substantial taxpayer funding helped push a California law creating new privacy protections for immigrant-service organizations, drawing criticism from watchdogs who say the measure will reduce transparency and public accountability.

AB 2624, which California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed in August, extends a privacy program to immigrant-serving nonprofits, their staff, and volunteers, allowing them to acquire substitute addresses in public records rather than their home and business addresses. The law also bans anyone from posting information on the internet with the intent of enabling another person to threaten violence against an immigration support services provider.

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights — which received more than two-thirds of its revenue from government grants between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2025 — co-sponsored, testified in support of, and lobbied for the bill. CHIRLA, which operates an “immigrant political power project,” did not respond when asked whether it expects to apply for the protections in the bill.
