A UNIVERSITY TRUSTEE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CRITICIZE THE UNIVERSITY HE’S SUPPOSED TO OVERSEE. After speaking out about Michigan State’s handling of the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal, one trustee is now suing with FIRE over a speech code restricting criticism of university leadership. Take a look at this week’s update for more.

This, of course, is no cause for cockiness.
THE REAL COST OF Socialism in America.
I READ IT, I BLURBED IT, AND I RECOMMEND IT: Kurt Schlichter’s new book American Warlord.

THE CRISIS ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY SAW COMING: Panic and Anger Spread as Europe’s Great Pension Covenant Unravels.
Concern about the sustainability of France’s welfare state has been a key driver of the protests that have shaken the country in recent weeks. It is also calling into question the tacit generational contract under which younger workers pay for their elders’ retirement.
After losing her finance job in December, Marie Caron, 61, is worried for the first time about how she will get by in old age. She can only start collecting retirement benefits at 63—or 66 to qualify for get a full pension—so she will have to find a new job before she retires, a difficult prospect in France’s rigid labor market where recruiters rarely hire older workers. Seven job interviews this year have produced nothing.
“I’ve paid a huge amount into the system and should be entitled to a decent pension,” Caron said. “Instead, I might end up on the streets.”
While American workers have long managed their own retirement portfolios to supplement a baseline Social Security check, continental Europeans were promised a comprehensive, state-guaranteed income for life.
“You f***ed up — you trusted us.”
HOT AIR’S SUNDAY SMILES:

DON’T TAKE THE BLACK PILL:
🔥No president since Truman has cut 300,000+ federal jobs while adding a million private-sector jobs, all in under two years.
That was 80 years ago and driven by the end of WW2.
Trump is a once in a lifetime President!

THIS IS WHO THE ENEMY IS: NY Violin Teacher Celebrates Israeli deaths from October 7th, Threatens Jewish Journalist.
When reached for comment by Mazelit’s Corner, he threatened us and claimed this reporter would end up in hell.
“Fighting Zionism is not antisemitism. The atrocities the IDF commit, perpetuated by people like you fighting the War of Words certainly earn you a place in hell, if it exists.”
“We will not have a conversation, do not mention me in your article by name or you will pay dearly. My legal team has been advised and has set alerts on you.”

AT THE MERCY OF A SINGLE FUSE: What If Your Car’s Brakes Fail? Bosch Has a Touchscreen Solution. “Brake-by-wire isn’t some sci-fi fantasy anymore. It’s already here, with plenty of new cars ditching old-school cables and rods for sensors, computers, and electronic gizmos. Instead of a direct link between your foot and the brakes, the car now reads your pedal press and decides how hard to clamp down – all through electronics. However, this approach also raises an important question: What happens when the electronics responsible for stopping your car fail?”
FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS WANT TO CENSOR AMERICANS WITHOUT EVER SETTING FOOT ON U.S. SOIL. As Trace Mitchell explains, overseas speech restrictions increasingly threaten what Americans can say online, raising a fundamental question about whose laws get to govern our speech. Check out this week’s update.
ED MORRISSEY: Stevens Appears With Rogers After El-Sayed Snub. Haley Stevens “tried to get everyone off the Crazy Train this week, and the Democrat Party stiffed her in favor of antisemitism. That lesson won’t be lost on Michigan voters and maybe voters in every battleground this week. In Michigan, Jocelyn Benson may have to worry about the impact on her gubernatorial campaign with black voters, especially with John James as a credible alternative. Democrats have no one to blame but themselves for this mess. They went all-in on Hamas support this cycle, and they just blew up a relatively easy Senate hold over it. Stay tuned.”

DISPATCHES FROM THE MUMMY STATE: Scottish Museum sending mummy’s remains back to Egypt.
A Scottish museum that removed a mummy from display because it didn’t have the deceased person’s “consent” will now return the remains to Egypt.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow removed the coffin and mummified corpse of an ancient Egyptian priest known as Nekht to show him “respect”.
The council-controlled body which runs the museum, Glasgow Life, explained that it did not have “consent” for the display “from the deceased individual or their descendants”.
Other items removed include a a mummified male head and right foot and a hand recovered from the Valley of the Kings in Luxor.
The Telegraph has learnt that the mummy is to be returned to Egypt following a request for repatriation.
In response, “Scottish Conservative culture spokesman Murdo Fraser said: ‘This is woke madness at its most ridiculous. Even Egyptian mummies are now being cancelled by a society so obsessed with modern sensibilities that it has lost all sense of perspective.’”
