ANALYSIS: TRUE. The ‘Cornell 7’ Fallout Is Infantilized Women And Villainized Men

Another quote comes from Doe’s lawyer, Thomas Giuffra, who I’m half-convinced actually hates his client, given how absurd his arguments made on her behalf are. He told the Times that it was incumbent upon literally anyone but Doe to have ensured she never left the Tri Delta sorority house that night. “Somebody should have said: ‘Hey, no, you’re intoxicated. You’re not, you shouldn’t be going outside. It’s not safe,’” he said. “And that failed.” Doe reportedly said in investigation proceedings after the incident that she hid her intoxication from an authority figure at the sorority house that night. “I didn’t want to tell her I was drunk because she’s a mandated reporter,” she said, according to the Times.

So if she was hiding it, how is anyone supposed to stop her? And if they had tried and she insisted that she be let go to leave the house, then what? A sorority house isn’t a prison. (Though maybe it should be.) The only logical conclusion is that women, at least young ones, can’t be trusted to take care of themselves and therefore shouldn’t be permitted to attend college without a chaperone.

AI SUPPORT THIN AMONG HILL AIDES: There is a slim majority, 51 percent, of responding congressional aides who told a recent CNCT Capitol Pulse survey they “trust AI companies to police themselves.” More surprising is the partisan makeup of that majority and there are some other puzzlers in the results, as reported on HillFaith.

AMERICA’S NEWSPAPER OF RECORD:

Bangin’ soundtrack though: Why Led Zeppelin said yes to Netflix’s $280m Narnia nightmare.

Like Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey this past summer, Netflix is presuming that the right will go absolutely insane over the stunt casting of Meryl Streep portraying the voice of Aslan, propelling them to box office fortune – and they’re likely correct:

UPDATE: Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’ Reportedly In Serious Trouble At Netflix.

A day after the first Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew trailer racked up thousands of dislikes and Marvel jokes, a new report says things are just as rough behind the scenes at Netflix.

Jeff Sneider reports in his InSneider newsletter that Greta Gerwig’s Narnia carries a $280 million budget, with some saying the real number is even higher.

One of Sneider’s sources says people at Netflix think the movie is “awful” and called it “a genuine problem.”

A second source, who attended a test screening over the summer, compared the movie to Disney’s 2018 A Wrinkle in Time, which reportedly lost close to $100 million.

Add to Narnia’s reported bad test screening more bad news for Netflix:

Belgrad won’t be alone: Biggest Layoffs in Company’s History Hit Netflix. “Netflix announced about 1,000 employee layoffs this week, or about six percent of its 16,000-person staff. Previously, Netflix’s largest layoff was half that — 450 job cuts in 2022.”
