NOVEMBER PREVIEW:

What’s really driving them bonkers is less about providing voter lists for eligibility determination (though they are certainly worried about that) and much more about MATCHING BARCODES of the outer and inner envelopes in a mail ballot package.

Here is why that’s the problem for them. If surplus mail ballots collected from people who aren’t voting by mail are somehow voted on behalf of OTHER PEOPLE, it becomes readily detectable that a ballot was repurposed from its originally intended voter to someone else on the voter rolls. The “no-match” condition means that ballot was taken from the originally intended voter or it was given away. Either way that’s how fraud can be easily detected.

Keep in mind, the barcode matching requirement does not require any personal information that isn’t on the outside of an envelope, and it doesn’t prevent states from using mail to conduct elections, so the hysterical reactions are confirmation they know the gig is up.

Well, stay tuned.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: SCOTUS Helps Preserve a Modicum of Sanity in Mail-In Ballot Madness. “President Trump hasn’t been getting any help from Republicans in the Senate in his efforts to make our elections a little more transparent and less susceptible to fraud. Senate Majority Leader John Thune isn’t really leading anyone, preferring the invertebrate hand-wringing that was the hallmark of pre-Trump Republicans to anything that might help his party to win. “

WELL, WHEN YOU PUT IT LIKE THAT…:

SO IT IS WRITTEN, SO IT MUST BE:

SMART: Florida moves to become first state to restrict cash assistance on non-essentials.

Under the state’s proposed policy change, Florida Department of Children and Families, or DCF, benefits distributed through Electronic Benefit Transfer, or EBT cards, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or TANF grants will no longer be eligible for purchases involving tobacco and vaping products, alcohol, adult material, video games, theme park tickets, tattoos, tanning beds, or fortune-telling services.

“Florida will be the first state in the nation to restrict temporary cash assistance benefits from being used for inappropriate and non-essential purchases,” DeSantis said during a press conference in Tampa. “If somebody really is needy, we just want to make sure that money is going to the things that are going to help that individual and help the dependents.”

How will the children survive without tattoos?

HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT MEN AREN’T OUT THERE TELLING WOMEN THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO AN OPINION ON THINGS? Yes, men are allowed to opine about Lindsay Clancy.

I generally take such claims as evidence that the women’s opinions in question can’t stand up to rational discussion. Of course, one advantage of the current crazy years is that you can retort with “How dare you assume my gender?”

I’m not saying we should regulate higher ed like an industry that produces toxic waste, but we certainly shouldn’t be funding this.

FROM NATHAN C. BRINDLE:  The Lion of God (Timelines Book 1).

John Wolff has been handed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Again.

He’s already saved the love of his life from an early death – thirty years after she died.

Now, a beautiful young woman, who is clearly his daughter, has appeared from the timeline branch where that same love of his life survived and married his counterpart.

She says they need his help fighting off invaders from the far future. Who, by the way, are looking for him. Why? Because they want the starship drive he and a friend invented, the precursor to their time machine. Problem is, in her timeline, it hasn’t been invented yet.

What man can resist a cry for help from his own daughter?
