HMM: Tesla’s ‘Security Protocols’ Stopped DHS From Installing a Tracking Device.

“Case agents believed that Stair is using the Tesla to assist with drug trafficking and traveling to locations associated with the DTO [drug trafficking organization] and DTO members,” the application said. “Case agents are still attempting to identify other locations used by the DTO, other members of the DTO, and the source of supply for narcotics and believe that the court order would be beneficial for the investigation.”

A judge issued the warrant the same day the application was filed, but agents never got the tracking device on the car. “Search warrant not executed due to security protocols active on Tesla,” the agent said in a court filing about the warrant.

The court documents don’t elaborate on the specific “security protocols” that stopped them from placing a tracking device on the car, but the Tesla may have been in “Sentry Mode.” Teslas have eight external cameras that provide a 360 degree view of the car’s surroundings. This makes the car’s self-driving features possible but also allows owners to keep track of what’s going on around the car.

If a stranger approaches a Tesla while it’s in Sentry Mode, the car will flash its lights, sound an alarm, and start recording through its exterior cameras.

Not a big fan of police being unable to execute a warrant, but that’s a great ad for anyone concerned about stalkers.

IN: An End To The Software Industry? “A whole lot of companies seem to have decided they don’t need to own their own software if they can simply have it in ‘the cloud’ and pay a subscription that means they have lower startup costs and can offload the support headcount to a vendor. And it seems that increasingly, that software will be written by AI, tested by AI, probed for security holes by AI, documented by AI, and supported by AI. I wonder if companies will give their AI tech support Indian accents to make them more believable?”

I’VE LOOKED AT LIFE FROM BOTH SIDES NOW: Sneering Leftist Mob Comes for Joni Mitchell After Her Proud American Moment.

Legendary folk singer Joni Mitchell is finding out the hard way that the Left has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to loving and appreciating the United States of America.

Mitchell proudly posted Tuesday that, after living in the U.S. for over six decades, she had finally become a citizen. She posted a short video of her name being called at what looked like a small ceremony at a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) office. The singer also posted a photo of her happily carrying a small American flag while posing in front of larger American and DHS flags.

She was clearly thrilled to officially be a U.S. citizen at long last.

But, of course, the Left can’t stand anything good, true, or beautiful, so they immediately began responding to her happy news with hateful messages.

“Willingly applying for American citizenship at this moment in history…oh MAGA Mitchell,” one person sneered on X.

JONATHAN TURLEY: Harper’s Magazine to Honor NPR CEO Katherine Maher with First Amendment Award.

Harper’s Magazine appears to be competing with The Onion in satire this week. It is awarding its First Amendment prize to NPR CEO Katherine Maher. It is akin to awarding a Second Amendment prize to Gavin Newsom. Maher has long been the very symbol of advocacy journalism and bias. Ironically, she is being given an award after steering NPR into the rocks to keep her job and its ideological bias.

Many of us have written for years about NPR’s biased reporting. Not all of this criticism was made out of hostility toward the outlet — many honestly wanted NPR to reverse course and adopt more balanced coverage. That is why, when NPR was searching for a new CEO, I encouraged the board to hire a moderate figure without a history of political advocacy or controversy.

Instead, the board selected Katherine Maher, a former Wikipedia CEO widely criticized for her highly partisan and controversial public statements. She was the personification of advocacy journalism, even declaring that the First Amendment is the “number one challenge” that makes it “tricky” to censor or “modify” content as she would like.

Maher has supported “deplatforming” anyone she deems to be  a “fascist” and even suggested that she might support “punching Nazis.” She also declared that “our reverence for the truth might be a distraction [in] getting things done.”

As expected, NPR’s bias only got worse. The leadership even changed a longstanding rule barring journalists from joining political protests.

One editor had had enough. Uri Berliner had watched NPR become an echo chamber for the far left with a virtual purging of all conservatives and Republicans from the newsroom. Berliner noted that NPR’s Washington headquarters has 87 registered Democrats among its editors and zero Republicans.

Maher and NPR remained dismissive of such complaints. Maher attacked the award-winning Berliner for causing an “affront to the individual journalists who work incredibly hard.”  She called his criticism “profoundly disrespectful, hurtful, and demeaning.”

Berliner resigned, after noting how Maher’s “divisive views confirm the very problems at NPR” that he had been pointing out.

Rather than trying to reverse the long slide in its audience, Maher doubled down. She ultimately made the best possible case for defunding NPR. She refused to resign, effectively killing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.  Yet, Harper considers her a model of media.

NIFTY: Powerus unveils fully autonomous drone interceptors.

According to analysis by the Congressional Budget Office, the U.S. used roughly two-thirds of its inventory of certain missile-defense interceptors by Aug. 1 to stop drones like Iran’s Shahed. Because rebuilding the supply could take years and cost billions, the government has sought quicker and cheaper solutions like those used in Ukraine, but implementing them hasn’t been easy.

“When you go to Ukraine, most of the interceptors, believe it or not, are manually controlled,” he said, explaining that Ukrainian operators are highly skilled at finding and stopping one-way attack drones in the air. “And that’s great for Ukraine, where you could probably throw a rock and hit a drone pilot.”

The problem with the government’s initial thinking, according to Velicovich, was that Ukraine has a “proper drone army,” as the country has “entire brigades that are pilots. So those guys have extreme combat experience in knowing how to take a drone and send it into another drone. In other countries, they don’t.”

With that understanding, Velicovich explained how Powerus provided the U.S. with the Guardian 1 — modeled after manually controlled Ukrainian drone interceptors — to the semi-autonomous Guardian 2, which, when paired with a radar to detect threats, will launch the interceptor in the direction of a drone.

“It’ll know the speed and the telemetry. It’ll launch it in that direction, but you still have to do that final phase of manual kill,” he said.

Guardian 3 is fully autonomous, but no word yet on pricing.

DOG BITES MAN: Leaked Call Exposes Environmentalists Trying To Deceive Congress And Kill Pro-Energy Agreement.

“We really have to have a pretty clear agreement by all parties that this is an effort to stop this bill, not to make it better,” Brett Hartl, government affairs director at the Center for Biological Diversity, said during the call.

The call, organized in part by the Sierra Club, drew 89 participants as environmental organizations debated how to respond to the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026. The legislation, introduced on September 30, was negotiated by Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) alongside Sens. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).

The bill would overhaul federal environmental review and permitting procedures, establish deadlines for reviews and legal challenges, and provide greater certainty for projects that have already secured permits and financing. Its supporters argue that the changes would reduce delays, expand energy infrastructure, and help lower costs while retaining environmental and historic preservation safeguards.

Well, Sierra can’t have that.
