LAWRENCE PERSON: Updates On The Murder Of Andrew Wimsatt. Here’s the high level summary of corrections:

In the original post, I said Andrew was a CHL/LTC holder who “likely would have survived his assault had he been carrying that day.”

The early reports I was relying on didn’t make clear that he was sitting on a park bench when his assailant snuck up behind him and stabbed him in the neck.* I had the impression he was still walking when the attack occurred. Obviously, in such a situation Andrew wouldn’t have had time to draw his weapon to stave off the attack.

I originally wrote that Benedict Ogbodiegwu, Andrew’s alleged attacker, “does not appear to have been released on bail for previous offenses in Travis County.” This may technically be true, but I didn’t think to search the Williamson County judicial database, where it shows he has had one felony and multiple misdemeanors dismissed.

But evidence has emerged that his attacker wasn’t just known as a crime risk, but a mental health risk as well.

THE OIL IS NO GOOD AT THE PUMP IF YOU CAN’T REFINE IT INTO GAS OR DIESEL:

“Who in their right mind would commit the huge lump of capital it takes to build a new refinery just to have it shut down by anti-CO2 nutballs the next time the Democrats are running the federal government?”

TO BE HONEST, I DON’T THINK ALBERT SPEER WOULD APPROVE OF SOMETHING THIS ROCOCO:

DISUNITED KINGDOM: Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales leaders to meet tomorrow to plan breakup of UK.

First Ministers John Swinney of Scotland, Rhun ap Iowerth of Wales, and Michelle O’Neill of Northern Ireland are expected to sign a joint declaration demanding the right to hold referendums on breaking away from the UK. For the first time, the three constituent nations of the UK are held by pro-separation parties.

The Telegraph reported sources as saying that the summit’s purpose is to pile more pressure on Prime Minister Andy Burnham after he said in the parliament on Wednesday that he would back another Scottish independence referendum if public opinion backed one.

A source close to Swinney told the newspaper that Burnham “fucked up” by making the comment and unionists should be very worried.

Unionists might be right to worry, but you’d have a hard time convincing me that Burnham didn’t know what he was doing.

WE KNEW IT WASN’T TRUE BECAUSE BILL CLINTON:

“We were just incensed after we learned there would be no action on our recommendation. We had clear and convincing proof of what bin Laden had done, and it would have been easy to bring him in.”

LOOKS FUN: The Theme Park at the Heart of France’s Culture War.

In a historical theme park set among the wheat fields of rural western France, Viking boats and pianos emerge from ponds, and knights ride on horseback. Now France’s most popular theme park after Disneyland’s sites near Paris, it has opened an outpost in Spain and aims to build one in England soon.

But many in France hate the park, called the Puy du Fou.

Critics have called it a peddler of “far-right propaganda,” an accusation that has gained in resonance as ultraconservatives edge closer to power for the first time since World War II. The critics accuse it of weaponizing history to popularize the values of its founder, Philippe de Villiers, a former lawmaker who supports far-right politicians and has long campaigned against the European Union, Islam, gay marriage and immigration.

He recently wrote that the park is part of a larger “cultural battle” for the country’s soul, and that “cultural victories precede political victories.” But his son Nicolas, who has run the park since 2012, said his only ambition is “to create shows that make people love France,” adding, “For me, that is my only cultural battle.”

Is all the fun stuff “right wing” now? Sure seems like it.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: The Left’s Favorite Minority — Quiet and Compliant. “Democrats want power. They want to tell you how to live your life, and you better not go against ‘the rules.’ That was as evident on Friday as it was in the 19th century. The plantation may be metaphorical now, but it’s alive and well.”

Sarah Anderson is filling in for Kruiser this morning.

CLIMATE CHANGE:

HMM: The ‘Anti-AI’ Panic Is Led by…AI Companies. “What we are seeing is a massive, pretty obviously coordinated campaign by AI researchers, companies, NGOs, and politicians to strangle competition in an industry and, as I will show, save the financial bacon of the top AI companies that are vastly overextended financially because they have made contractual commitments that they simply have no prospect of paying for.”

That sounds right.

MORE “COME SEE THE VIOLENCE INHERENT IN THE LEFTISM”:

A few prosecutions might help.

HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE:

JOSH HAMMER: America Has Not Learned the Right Lessons From Charlie Kirk’s Murder. “The assassination of Charlie Kirk — like the attempts on President Donald Trump’s life and the cold-blooded killing of UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson — was welcomed with glee by many on the far Left. It was a grisly reminder of the leftist violent streak that goes back as far as the guillotine of revolutionary France.”
