DEFLECTION: Facing inaccuracy claims, historian Kerri Greenidge points to bias against black female scholars.
Kerri Greenidge’s celebrated 2022 book, “The Grimkes,” which explores three generations of the history of the prominent slaveholding family, is now under heavy scrutiny, with scholars arguing it contains factual inaccuracies, nonexistent citations, and misattributed source materials.
Greenidge is an American historian who was a tenured associate professor at Tufts University in the Department of Studies in race, colonialism, and diaspora.
As a result of the controversy, she may have lost a book deal last month, according to the New York Times. Greenidge’s university email is now defunct and she does not have publicly listed contact information. She did not respond to The College Fix’s request for comment on LinkedIn.
She told the New York Times that she might have misattributed some citations, but that “I am heartbroken that a field I have given my life to can treat me this way,” adding: “The attack on Black women academics is real.”
She’s no Jason Arday, but she knows how to play the game.

SOME SMALL MEASURE OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Protesters sentenced to jail for blocking Golden Gate Bridge over Gaza war.
Seven protesters who blocked traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge in a 2024 pro-Palestinian protest against Israel’s assault on Gaza have been sentenced to 30 days, with credit for time already served.
They were convicted in July of misdemeanor charges by a San Francisco jury that remained deadlocked on the more serious charge of felony conspiracy.
Defense attorneys said demonstrators acted out of a moral responsibility to oppose the devastation from Israeli strikes on Gaza and Washington’s support for its ally.

More:
What’s really driving them bonkers is less about providing voter lists for eligibility determination (though they are certainly worried about that) and much more about MATCHING BARCODES of the outer and inner envelopes in a mail ballot package.
Here is why that’s the problem for them. If surplus mail ballots collected from people who aren’t voting by mail are somehow voted on behalf of OTHER PEOPLE, it becomes readily detectable that a ballot was repurposed from its originally intended voter to someone else on the voter rolls. The “no-match” condition means that ballot was taken from the originally intended voter or it was given away. Either way that’s how fraud can be easily detected.
Keep in mind, the barcode matching requirement does not require any personal information that isn’t on the outside of an envelope, and it doesn’t prevent states from using mail to conduct elections, so the hysterical reactions are confirmation they know the gig is up.
Well, stay tuned.
KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: SCOTUS Helps Preserve a Modicum of Sanity in Mail-In Ballot Madness. “President Trump hasn’t been getting any help from Republicans in the Senate in his efforts to make our elections a little more transparent and less susceptible to fraud. Senate Majority Leader John Thune isn’t really leading anyone, preferring the invertebrate hand-wringing that was the hallmark of pre-Trump Republicans to anything that might help his party to win. “
EASY-CLICK INTERCEPTORS: Cheap ‘Guardian’ interceptors developed by Florida start-up could turn tables on Iranian drones. “The report cited a Powerus spokesperson, who said the company produces 3,000 interceptors a month and hopes to increase that to 15,000 a month by 2027. This is helped by the product’s modular design, as the readily available components easily snap together.”
