UNEXPECTEDLY: UK-Iranian dual national arrested over RAF Fairford incident, police say.
A UK-Iranian dual national has been arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts in connection with the incident at RAF Fairford, counter-terror police have said.
The 27-year-old man was arrested in Westminster, London. A second man, a 26-year-old UK national, has also been questioned under caution, and two properties in the area have been searched.
Five men in their twenties who were arrested near the Gloucestershire airbase on Sunday remain on police bail. All five were UK nationals from London.
Counter-terror police are considering “all possible angles – including foreign state involvement”, the force’s senior national coordinator Vicki Evans said.

SURE WOULD BE NICE IF WE HAD THE SPARE REFINING CAPACITY TO HANDLE THESE LITTLE COMPLICATIONS: Persian Gulf crude oil flows have largely recovered. For diesel and gasoline, it’s more complicated.
Exports of crude oil have begun to normalize in the Persian Gulf, bringing some relief to global buyers. But in the refined market for products such as diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel, analysts say the picture looks tighter, more expensive, and slower to recover.
While crude oil exports from the Persian Gulf region have returned to roughly 98% of their pre-war levels, product exports — of diesel, gasoline, and other derivatives — have recovered only to roughly 3 million barrels per day, or about 58% of their pre-war levels. Goldman Sachs analysts led by Daan Struyven peg that figure lower, at roughly 50% of their 2025 average.
“The crude market has largely normalized even as refined product supplies remain constrained,” JPMorgan analysts led by Natasha Kaneva wrote to clients.
Hell, it would be nice if we just had enough refining capacity.
VDH: Remembering the False Gloom and Doom of the 1992 Elections—and the Upcoming Midterms.
[Lee] Atwater’s canny but hardball 1988 tactics had turned off establishment Republicans. So in 1992, Republicans reverted to the notion of losing nobly rather than winning ugly and resumed unilaterally playing by the Marquess of Queensberry rules. The result of Democratic demagoguery was that the sober and competent elder Bush was branded a heartless elitist who had wrecked the economy and defended Kuwait only for “blood for oil.” And without Atwater, the Bush team utterly failed to refute such caricatures and counterattack.
Third, and most important, the anemic Bush reelection campaign never refuted the Clinton-Gore economic hysteria. That “recession” deception had drowned out the historic foreign policy achievements of Bush’s four years, from the successful policies that followed the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 to the decisive 1991 Gulf War.
Despite overwrought claims about a recession or even a new Great Depression, in truth, the recession had ended in March 1991. In fact, final GDP growth for 1992 was a robust 3.52 percent. That was hardly a recessionary indicator. Indeed, the election-year growth proved even stronger than in Clinton’s first year of governance in 1993.
While unemployment was still high at 7.5 percent, the 1992 stock market nonetheless grew by 7.6 percent. And the 1992 inflation rate had stayed moderate at 2.9 percent.
In other words, the economy had already begun to recover from the 1990–91 recession, which—to reiterate—had officially ended 20 months before the 1992 election.
One cause—eerily now familiar—of the earlier 1990–91 downturn was that oil prices had initially doubled after the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the U.S. military response. But prices collapsed as soon as Operation Desert Storm began, despite the later torching of the Kuwaiti oil fields and continued uncertainty in the Gulf. Yet by the November 1992 election, oil prices had long been back to pre-invasion levels.
In short, the Democrats’ charge that 1992 saw the worst recession in 60 years was absurd. (The 1973–75 and 1981–82 recessions were far worse than the 1990–91 recession.)
Read the whole thing. As the Charlotte Business Journal wrote in 2010, “The U.S. economy actually grew 4.2% in the fourth-quarter that year and went on to enjoy a terrific decade-long run of prosperity. And we learned in hindsight that recession had actually already ended when the [September 1992 Time magazine] article was printed.” In December of 1992, Time’s leftists gloated that the economic turnaround was “Bush’s Economic Present for Clinton.”
LOVELY:
After the first Falcon 1 rocket exploded 33 seconds after launch in March 2006, Elon Musk did something that his employees did not expect. He personally called the family members of the engineers who had worked on the rocket.
Not the engineers. Their families.
The engineers…
— Race 🕊️ (@multiplanet1) September 30, 2026
This stands out:
Elon called to tell them everyone was safe. That the failure was a known risk. That the team would try again. That their family member had done extraordinary work and the explosion was not a reflection of their ability.
One engineer’s wife said the call lasted 4 minutes. She said Elon sounded tired but calm. She said he didn’t minimize the failure or exaggerate the optimism. He stated the facts and said “your husband is brilliant and we are going to fly again.”
They did indeed.

IRAN MASSACRES, UP CLOSE: An estimated 40,000 Iranian civilians were murdered by the authorities during anti-government demonstrations in Tehran beginning in late December 2025 and continuing through mid-January of this year. But when was the last time you read a story in the New York Times about those atrocities or watched a news report on them on ABC?
Now you don’t have to depend on the Mainstream Media for actual video of those tragic events, thanks to a new documentary entitled “This Is Our Story – Voices From Iran’s January Protests,” which Richard Pollock describes as “explosive” and “deeply moving.” Being based on actual videos taken by participating protestors during and after the massacre, the documentary is also graphic.
“At its most gripping, This Is Our Story shows the deep emotional toll on a nation’s people when thousands of body bags were placed in local hospitals and mortuaries. Families had to painstakingly open each bag to find a husband, wife or child. It also shows the many funerals that became lightning rods for further dissent. Since the funerals, silence. But as the documentary shows, internally, Iran is a powder keg ready to explode,” Pollock writes
Mike Rowe offered a blunt way to describe America’s skilled-worker shortage: The country is losing tradespeople faster than it is replacing them.
“For every five tradespeople who retire this year, two replace them,” Rowe said during a Ford Pro Accelerate panel on workforce development. “Five out, two in. I don’t care how you vote. I don’t care what your politics are. Math doesn’t care either.”
The host of Dirty Jobs has made variations of that argument for years. But at Ford’s gathering, Rowe’s warning about welders, electricians, and other skilled workers became the opening to a more expansive conversation with Education Secretary Linda McMahon and Michael Duffey, undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment at the U.S. Department of War, about what the country gets wrong when it treats college and career training as opposing paths.
The emerging argument was not merely that Americans need more people in the trades. It was that the language of “blue-collar” and “white-collar” may no longer describe the jobs employers need to fill—or the education workers need to navigate them. Try “purple,” Rowe said.
Speaking of rather skewed math: Almost 90% of jobs created since Trump’s reelection have gone to women — for one specific reason. “The American economy is increasingly geared toward services, such as healthcare, childcare, education and elder care. ‘This is a central story of what happens when a country gets richer, more productive, and yes — older,’ [economist Justin Wolfers] said. All of these jobs have historically been associated with women, the so-called ‘pink-collar economy,’ and still suffer from a lack of male interest, he argued.”
SARAH HOYT’S SHOCKED FACE IS ENJOYING A COMPLIMENTARY COCKTAIL: Netanyahu Confirms Hijacker Had ‘Islamist Radical Indoctrination.’
IT’S LIKE THEY’RE TRYING TO LOSE: GOP budget chairman contenders put revenue raises on the table.
The two Republicans vying to take over from House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) are pushing hard for a bipartisan fiscal commission to close federal deficits, with both of them saying that all options, including revenue raisers, are on the table.
Their positioning represents a break with the stance of many Republicans in years past that tax hikes should not be considered.
The Washington Examiner interviewed Reps. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA) and Blake Moore (R-UT) to discuss their visions for the committee if chosen to be either chairman, if Republicans retain control of the House in November, or the ranking member, if the GOP loses. Both congressmen vowed to pursue a fiscal commission tasked with addressing the rising federal debt should they get the gavel.
Say it with me now: Washington doesn’t have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem.

ITS ORIGIN AND PURPOSE, STILL A TOTAL MYSTERY: Thwarted Hijacker Underwent ‘Islamist Radical Indoctrination,’ Netanyahu Says.
The pilot who was narrowly prevented from hijacking a passenger jet en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv on Wednesday underwent “Islamist radical indoctrination,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
The FlyDubai pilot, an Omani national who has not yet been identified, stabbed his co-pilot and tried to seize control of the jet, which was filled with Israeli passengers.
“We know that he underwent Islamist radical indoctrination,” Netanyahu said in an interview with Fox News, citing information Israel has learned during its investigation. The prime minister did not reveal any additional details.
A fellow pilot told Israel’s Channel 16 journalist Yosef Yisrael the attacker was “someone characterized by very strange behavior, especially around religious observances that were out of step with his surroundings.”
“For instance, he used to pray a lot, and would not shake hands with women,” the pilot — who spoke to Yisrael on the condition of anonymity — said.

FIRST THE F-47, AND NOW THIS: US Navy selects Boeing to build next-generation F/A-XX fighter.
Inked at $20 billion for the full-scale development phase, the contract, according to a Pentagon release, “procures multiple test aircraft for ground, airworthiness, systems, and weapons integration testing.”
“The F/A-XX is a critical pillar in our commitment to maintaining peace through strength,” Michael P. Duffey, under secretary of defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, said in the release. “F/A-XX will dominate contested airspace, extend operational reach, and deliver a decisive combat advantage for the warfighter.”
Equipped with an extended range to provide power projection from U.S. carriers, Boeing has promised that the F/A-XX will, crucially, be interoperable with both manned and unmanned platforms such as Collaborative Combat Aircraft.
Starliner is still a bit of a mess, but Boeing’s more recent efforts seem to have the company on a roll.
