I KNOW YOU’VE ALL BEEN ASKING YOURSELVES, “What should I get Greg for his birthday today? Exotic cheeses? Fancy bourbon? A second season of Wonder Man? Or Spider-Noir?”: Well, that’s all very thoughtful of you. But all I really want for my birthday is for you to support the great work of the extraordinary folks at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE)! Seriously. They’re the best birthday present I could ask for.

Sad thing is this is normal. She genuinely, warmly thinks her people are smart in "alternate" ways, and that being good at tests (close reasoning and linear thinking) is "white." I wrote about this strain of thought a few months ago here: https://t.co/uBZ7R2Xs5n https://t.co/MbvBTuGzyB

YEAH, NO: Republican Rep. Massie moves to impeach Defense Secretary Hegseth over Iran war.
Congressman Massie, a long-time critic of the Trump administration, read the articles of impeachment aloud from the House floor just after the chamber convened at noon. Massie alleges that Hegseth has waged the Iran war illegally, among other “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
Massie alleges that Hegseth initiated the conflict unlawfully, defied Congress’ order to withdraw from the conflict and incurred unnecessary civilian casualties.
Massie has repeatedly clashed with members of his own party in recent years and is ending his time in office after losing his primary to an opponent backed by President Trump. Massie’s clashes with Trump extend beyond the war with Iran. Working alongside Democrat Ro Khanna of California, Massie led the successful effort to compel the Trump administration to release files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Republicans in theory have enough votes to defeat the proposal, though it could be a complicated vote for their members in competitive elections districts.
It’s weird how NPR’s Eric McDaniel put in that last point without ever mentioning that Massie just got primaried out by Republican voters fed up with his TDS.

I HATE TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO, BUT…: Colorado’s aerospace industry fears it may be losing ground.
Colorado’s aerospace and defense industry has soared above other states for years but it may be losing ground and risks poachers, especially from the southern Sun Belt states, according to a new report commissioned by the Colorado Chamber Foundation.
“Stakeholders believe that we remain a globally influential hub (but) also say the industry is being taken for granted and that the state is coasting on momentum,” Rachel Beck, executive director, said at an event Thursday to share findings with local aerospace executives from firms like Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. “And they warn that the state’s historical advantages are dissipating and that our business climate is eroding.”
The report, conducted by consulting firm Economic Leadership in North Carolina, was similar to past Chamber reports intended to spotlight how state regulations and policies are negatively impacting the business community. But this was different from the Chamber relocation report in April that cited 98 companies that have left Colorado since 2019. It noted the aerospace industry still punches above its weight.
But: “Colorado’s 14.4% aerospace job growth landed the state in the bottom half of the nation, as the 26th fastest growth rate last year. South Carolina topped the list at 37.4%, according to data crunched by consultants at Economic Leadership in North Carolina.”

CORN, POPPED: Federal criminal probe of Newsom expands; Lurie’s wife Prowda named in subpoenas.
The subpoenas — which were issued in early September and requested testimony and communications with the governor, among others — seek six years of records involving the California State Protocol Foundation, a nonprofit that has paid for Newsom’s overseas travel, as well as communications with current and former aides, advisers, and associates. Those aides include Rebecca Prowda, who oversees Newsom’s overseas travel as his chief protocol officer and is the wife of San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie.
The documents provide the clearest picture yet of the scope of a federal investigation effort Newsom first disclosed in June (opens in new tab), which he said was focused on him and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
“The records requested by this subpoena are for use in a criminal investigation pending in the Eastern District of California,” says one of the documents, signed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. Anderson.
The records obtained via subpoena will be presented to a grand jury, a group of jurors that acts like a judge, reviewing evidence and testimony to decide if there’s sufficient grounds for an indictment.

What’s New in ChatGPT?
● ChatGPT has an improved neural network architecture, enhanced security, and the following features:
● $193,634 in student loan debt
● Annotated bibliographies for seven different unfinished manuscripts
● Parents who want to know when they’re getting grandchildren
● A hiring application for Books-A-Million
● A number of dead plants
● A pint glass stolen from the bar that used to have two-dollar draft nights back when ChatGPT was a first-year master’s student with hopes and dreams who still saw academia as a wonderland of knowledge rather than something closer to a pyramid scheme designed to provide full professors with income and a steady supply of young people to sexually harass. The pint glass says, SUCK IT UP, LIVER
● Daily reminders that ChatGPT was once a “gifted kid”
