YO, TEXAS:
🚨 TEXAS VOTERS: ONCE YOU CHECK IN, DO NOT LEAVE UNTIL YOU HAVE CAST YOUR BALLOT.
The RNC identified reports in multiple counties of voters checking in, encountering issues when trying to vote, and then being told to come back later. This is NOT CORRECT.

VIDEO: If There’s One Thing The NYPD is Proud Of, It’s How Many ‘Illegal’ Guns They Destroy. “You can bet that a goodly number of those guns were stolen. And you can also bet that most, if not all of those stolen guns end up in a blast furnace show in this video rather than ever being returned to their rightful owners.”

THIS MONTH IN POPULAR LUDDITES:

To be fair, their latest cover wasn’t entirely unexpected, after this Popular Mechanics article in June of 2020: How to Topple a Statue Using Science.

“Lifetime analysis performed in July 2026 identified a 10% probability of reentry by September 2032, and 50 percent probability by December 2033,” NASA explained in a notice. “[Hubble] does not have a propulsion system and, without a servicing action, will ultimately experience an uncontrolled reentry.”
Now, NASA is looking once again at rescuing the space telescope.
“Hubble still has important science ahead of it, and we should be looking at every reasonable opportunity to keep it delivering for as long as possible,” NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman explained in a statement.
“If there are innovative and cost-effective ways to extend the life of an asset already on orbit, we owe it to the American taxpayer and the scientific community to explore them. Extending Hubble’s life would mean more discoveries, more science, and more opportunities to expand our understanding of the universe.”
The main problem is that the telescope has outlasted the Shuttle program that serviced it. As such, NASA is now looking to see whether commercial partners could feasibly re-boost the telescope by 2032, ensuring its continuation.
That would be a helluva thing for a satellite that was originally supposed to cease operations and deorbit in 2005.

I SPENT YEARS THINKING FIRE CO-FOUNDER ALAN KORS WAS TOO PESSIMISTIC ABOUT ACADEMIA, BUT HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT FAR MORE THAN I’D LIKE TO ADMIT, INCLUDING HOW POLITICAL ORTHODOXY CAN CROWD OUT THE SEARCH FOR TRUTH. In Part 2 of Breaking the Academic Filibuster, I examine how what I call “Political Cooties” allows universities to dismiss serious arguments based on perceived politics rather than their merits.

Here’s the way the book is described in on the Amazon web site:
What happens when left-of-center ideas on matters of race or sex can’t be challenged in polite company? Free from criticism, they slowly grow increasingly extreme, eventually losing touch with reality. This is how we find ourselves in the Woke Era. In Why We Walk on Eggshells, Gail Heriot sketches out the practical incentives created by our civil rights law and policies that caused the woke ideology to develop and flourish. One of the most important of those incentives was the Civil Rights Act of 1991, which for the first time made employment-discrimination lawsuits–including those based on harassment–lucrative for plaintiffs. Employers understandably panicked and started requiring what came to be called diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training to ensure that employees would never say anything, no matter how trivial or even how true, that might be considered offensive. Employees were urged to walk on eggshells. Even statements like “I believe the most qualified person should get the job” were often forbidden. Slowly workplace culture (and eventually American culture in general) evolved to resemble the culture that had taken hold on college campuses more than a decade earlier as a result of another of the many wrong turns in civil rights law–the Supreme Court’s fateful decision in Regents of the University of California v. Bakke(1978).Why We Walk on Eggshells is a masterful treatment of the legislation and judicial decisions that helped give birth to the Woke Era. It is for anyone who wants to grapple with how we arrived at our present woke crisis and discover a way out of it.
I hope you find it worthy of a read.

OUCH: Disney Eyes Thousands of Layoffs in Push for 20% Cost Cuts.
The possible job cuts come as CEO Josh D’Amaro is reportedly facing challenges from growing AI use, weaker box office revenue, mounting competition from streaming challengers and a slowdown in theme park attendance abroad, according to Bloomberg, which first reported the news.
It’s said that some operations within Disney are set to face larger cuts than others. Though, per the reports, D’Amaro plans to reinvest the savings from the cuts into the company’s film and TV programming, technology, theme parks and cruise ship operations. It’s currently unclear how many jobs could be impacted, but Disney employed about 231,000 people at the end of 2025’s fiscal year.
Well, they killed the Star Wars cash cow and the MCU is on very expensive life support. Something has to give.
