Chace Jackson’s arrangement with the academy was unusual. He served as the legislative designee while simultaneously representing corporate clients as a lobbyist for the Resurgam Group, the “full service lobbying” firm founded by his father’s former chief of staff and current campaign adviser, B.J. McCollister. State agencies in Maine are required to appoint full-time employees as legislative designees to avoid retaining pricey outside firms for state-level lobbying. The University of Maine’s legislative designee, for example, is its chief governmental affairs officer, Samantha Warren, who has held the role for nearly a decade and has not worked as an outside lobbyist during that time. None of the more than 300 active legislative designees, in fact, are registered lobbyists with outside firms, according to a Free Beacon review.

That the bill passed the Maine Senate but failed to become law came as a pleasant surprise.

MI ATTORNEY GENERAL TO JEWS: Sacrifice Your Very Existence to Elect Democrats.

Have Democrats settled on their argument to Jews for why they should vote for Abdul El-Sayed, despite the fact that he seems content to have them killed in large numbers by Islamists?

Apparently so, and that argument is that Abdul El-Sayed will save the world from global warming.

I first noticed this line of argumentation when Peter Beinart, a Jew himself, argued that voting for El-Sayed was a vote to save the world from burning to a cinder due to global warming.

He, at least, argued that saving the world meant saving Jews too, so that in a larger sense it was a vote for self-defense in a larger sense than just defending Jews from Islamists. By saving the world, they are also saving themselves.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, also a Jew, goes even further. She is arguing to her fellow religionists that they should be willing to suffer a genocide in order to save the world from global warming.

No, I am not kidding.

Back in 2006, Julia Gorin observed in the Christian Science Monitor that, “It’s a peculiar thing that as the threat of global terrorism reaches a crescendo, so apparently does the threat of global warming – at least that’s what some would have us believe:”

Tough language is borrowed from the war on terror and applied to the war on weather. “I really consider this a national security issue,” says celebrity activist and “An Inconvenient Truth” producer Laurie David. “Truth” star Al Gore calls global warming a “planetary emergency.” Bill Clinton’s first worry is climate change: “It’s the only thing that I believe has the power to fundamentally end the march of civilization as we know it.”

Freud called it displacement. People fixate on the environment when they can’t deal with real threats. Combating the climate gives nonhawks a chance to look tough. They can flex their muscle for Mother Nature, take a preemptive strike at an SUV. Forget the Patriot Act, it’s Kyoto that’ll save you.

That’s why in 2004 we got “The Day After Tomorrow” – so we could worry about junk science that may or may not kill us in 1,000 years instead of the people who really are trying to kill us the day after tomorrow.
