FINALLY:  My new book—WHY WE WALK ON EGGSHELLS:  How Our Civil Rights Law Stifle Our Civic Discourse–is being officially released TODAY!

Here’s the way the book is described in on the Amazon web site:

What happens when left-of-center ideas on matters of race or sex can’t be challenged in polite company? Free from criticism, they slowly grow increasingly extreme, eventually losing touch with reality. This is how we find ourselves in the Woke Era. In Why We Walk on Eggshells, Gail Heriot sketches out the practical incentives created by our civil rights law and policies that caused the woke ideology to develop and flourish. One of the most important of those incentives was the Civil Rights Act of 1991, which for the first time made employment-discrimination lawsuits–including those based on harassment–lucrative for plaintiffs. Employers understandably panicked and started requiring what came to be called diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training to ensure that employees would never say anything, no matter how trivial or even how true, that might be considered offensive. Employees were urged to walk on eggshells. Even statements like “I believe the most qualified person should get the job” were often forbidden. Slowly workplace culture (and eventually American culture in general) evolved to resemble the culture that had taken hold on college campuses more than a decade earlier as a result of another of the many wrong turns in civil rights law–the Supreme Court’s fateful decision in Regents of the University of California v. Bakke(1978).Why We Walk on Eggshells is a masterful treatment of the legislation and judicial decisions that helped give birth to the Woke Era. It is for anyone who wants to grapple with how we arrived at our present woke crisis and discover a way out of it.

I hope you find it worthy of a read.

SETH MANDEL: Democrats’ Day of Rage.

The background to this is the intra-Democratic Party explosion over Haley Stevens endorsing a Republican.

Until Sunday, Democrats had managed to avoid projecting the same convulsive anger that has come to define the campaign of Abdul El-Sayed, the grouchy left-wing bureaucrat running for Senate in Michigan against the former GOP congressman Mike Rogers.

El-Sayed’s hair-trigger temper has dogged him all campaign but especially since his ties to extremists have come to light and even landed in the New York Times, albeit couched in terms that obscure their significance. Those revelations filled in the picture that was outlined earlier in the campaign when El-Sayed made excuses for a terrorist who attempted to murder dozens of Jewish children in Michigan—“hurt people hurt people,” he said—and then refused to apologize for his justifications of horrific attempted violence. These days he spends his time snapping at reporters who ask him questions.

All of this made El-Sayed’s defeat of Haley Stevens in the Democratic primary the beginning, not the end, of his troubles.

Still, Democrats backed El-Sayed, a fanatically obsessive anti-Zionist with a temper.

That certainly tells you where the party is now — particularly since El-Sayed’s primary win seems to have been due to dirty tricks on his behalf: Sick trolls fess up to making fake polls that helped Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan: ‘Far too easy.’

LOL, TOM NICHOLS.

“CONSPIRACY THEORY” NOW JUST MEANS “SLIGHTLY AHEAD OF THE NEWS CYCLE”:

Good thread. Check it out.

TAKING STOCK OF THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S VICTORIES:

Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan, who endorsed Obama in October of 2008 and praised Kamala Harris in the summer of 2020, is “unexpectedly” displeased by the developments of the last two years:

IT’S VERY INTERESTING THAT COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD ARE ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO HAVE THREE DAYS OF FOOD AND ESSENTIALS ON HAND:  Yes, I’ve Noticed…

Look on your way back from voting, swing by the grocery store, grab your essentials. I don’t think things will go spicy that fast. (Note I’m not say “I don’t think things will go spicy.) But you never know, and better safe than sorry. There’s f*ckery abroad (literally) and it’s being financed by someone. And the someone, self-obviously does not wish us well.

AN UNWILLINGNESS TO HAVE GOVERNMENT SOLUTIONS FOR EVERY PROBLEM IS NOT LAZINESS:  Try These, Numbnuts.

It’s respect for freedom and the individual. And yes, if you don’t see that, you deserve to be called Numbnuts. Well, you deserve to be called worse, but Kim is a gentleman, malgre hanging out with the likes of me.

THAT’S BEEN DEMOCRATS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY:  Collins Blasts Schumer, Democrats Over ‘Completely False’ Campaign Ads.

Including the endless prattle about affordability from the same people who called us “treatlers” because we wanted to be able to afford eggs, just three years ago. Don’t be fooled. Vote against the lying bastards. And vote even RINOS like Collins in. Who has the majority matters. The RINOS we’ll deal with by the by, on our own. Recruit, primary, educate. But tomorrow, just VOTE.

WE’RE VERY CLOSE TO HAVING TIME FOR THE STARS, VOTE TO BUY US A LITTLE MORE TIME:  Time For The Stars.
