SPACE: NASA Is Looking For Ways To Save The Hubble Space Telescope From An “Uncontrolled Reentry”, And Extend Its Mission Beyond 2032.

“Lifetime analysis performed in July 2026 identified a 10% probability of reentry by September 2032, and 50 percent probability by December 2033,” NASA explained in a notice. “[Hubble] does not have a propulsion system and, without a servicing action, will ultimately experience an uncontrolled reentry.”

Now, NASA is looking once again at rescuing the space telescope.

“Hubble still has important science ahead of it, and we should be looking at every reasonable opportunity to keep it delivering for as long as possible,” NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman explained in a statement.

“If there are innovative and cost-effective ways to extend the life of an asset already on orbit, we owe it to the American taxpayer and the scientific community to explore them. Extending Hubble’s life would mean more discoveries, more science, and more opportunities to expand our understanding of the universe.”

The main problem is that the telescope has outlasted the Shuttle program that serviced it. As such, NASA is now looking to see whether commercial partners could feasibly re-boost the telescope by 2032, ensuring its continuation.

That would be a helluva thing for a satellite that was originally supposed to cease operations and deorbit in 2005.

OUCH: Disney Eyes Thousands of Layoffs in Push for 20% Cost Cuts.

The possible job cuts come as CEO Josh D’Amaro is reportedly facing challenges from growing AI use, weaker box office revenue, mounting competition from streaming challengers and a slowdown in theme park attendance abroad, according to Bloomberg, which first reported the news.

It’s said that some operations within Disney are set to face larger cuts than others. Though, per the reports, D’Amaro plans to reinvest the savings from the cuts into the company’s film and TV programming, technology, theme parks and cruise ship operations. It’s currently unclear how many jobs could be impacted, but Disney employed about 231,000 people at the end of 2025’s fiscal year.

Well, they killed the Star Wars cash cow and the MCU is on very expensive life support. Something has to give.

OLD-SCHOOL DOCTORS PAID ATTENTION TO THESE CUES. MODERN ONES NOT SO MUCH: Sniffing out the link between odor and disease. So we’ll have machines to do it.

My old doctor, now retired, complained that most people now take a pulse with a pulse oximeter, which just gives you a number for beats per minute. Taking a pulse manually gave you a lot more than a number: Was it bounding, thready, steady or irregular, etc. Useful information was lost in exchange for the convenience of sticking a small gadget on someone’s finger.

MISTAKES WERE MADE: The New York Times rushes to apologize for its outbreak of journalism.

Having outraged its core audience, The New York Times is rushing to explain how it managed to commit journalism in covering the Senate race in Alaska.

The paper last month impressed its usual critics by tracking down damning details of how Democratic candidate Mary Peltola’s campaign recruited a strawman candidate sharing the same name as the Republican incumbent, a ploy that, in concert with the state’s ranked-choice-voting rules, could make her the winner even if more people meant to vote for the real Dan Sullivan.

Since Peltola’s core appeal is as an outsider, not another politician, the story of her efforts to defraud the voting public was extra-damning.

But Times readers on social media and in its comment section howled about this betrayal of their expectation that the paper of record will confirm all their biases, especially “Democrats good, Republicans evil” — offering “All the news that’s fit to think.”

The paper’s been rushing to control the damage with various followup offerings, including an earnest report on how Peltola had no idea what her top aides were doing and a newsletter dispatch about how “both sides do it.”

Gentlemen, you can’t report the news here — this is the New York Times!

WHY IS THE LEFT SUCH A CESSPIT OF ANTISEMITISM? Philadelphia anti-Israel groups to stage ‘boycott ride’ past Jewish-owned restaurants on eve of Kristallnacht anniversary.

Philadelphia anti-Israel groups are planning a bicycle ride targeting Jewish-owned businesses on the eve of the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the 1938 Nazi-orchestrated pogrom against Jews in Germany and Austria.

The “Boycott Ride,” organized by Philly Bike On Your Left in collaboration with Philly Writers Against the War on Gaza, Boycott CookNSolo and Philly Solidarity Calendar, is scheduled for Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m. at Rittenhouse Square in the heart of Center City. A flier promoting the event states, “No business for Zionists,” adding, “These Zionist establishments must go.”

The flier names several Philadelphia businesses, including Dizengoff, a modern Israeli restaurant; Huda, a sandwich shop; Schlesinger’s Restaurant and Delicatessen, a Jewish deli; Mac Mart, a macaroni-and-cheese kiosk; K’Far Cafe, an Israeli cafe; and Goldie, a kosher falafel shop.

“Ride around Rittenhouse with us as we show these zio business owners that we see them for the disgusting humans they are,” organizers wrote.

The Anti-Defamation League of Philadelphia, American Jewish Committee of Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and StandWithUs released a joint statement on Monday calling the boycott ride “Jew-hatred, plain and simple.”

“The ride falls on the eve of the anniversary of Kristallnacht, Nov. 9-10, 1938, when Nazi-organized mobs destroyed thousands of Jewish businesses, homes and synagogues in Germany and Austria, while thousands of Jews were beaten, assaulted and sent to concentration camps,” the groups stated.

“The public targeting of Jewish businesses should alarm every person of conscience,” they stated. “No business should be targeted because of the identity, heritage or perceived political beliefs of its owners.”

In September, Bill Maher had this exchange with veteran music producer David Foster:

Foster: “What turned the Democratic Party antisemitic?”

Bill Maher: “Israel. It’s what turned them. It’s a question I explore a lot on my show.”

David Foster: “I don’t know the answer. And you don’t either?”

Maher: “I do. Again, it’s lack of education… They don’t know anything about the Middle East or the history. They just know one thing that they’ve been indoctrinated in, which is that the world is divided between oppressors and… people who are oppressed. And it has everything and only to do with race, which is ridiculous.”

“It has sometimes something to do with race; certainly in America it did. But slavery wasn’t invented in 1619. And as far as this connection somehow between the brown people who are Palestinians — they must be right because they’re brown and they’re poor and the Israelis are rich and white, which is not even true. Israelis are brown too. They’re different.”

“It just seems to always land back at the Jews. I mean, it’s so bad now that the right wing is doing it — Tucker Carlson is doing it, and Candace Owens is doing it, and so is everybody in the Democratic Socialists. You have to get on the page that Israel is the monster country of all time.”

A whole lot of people need to be asking themselves, “Are we the baddies?”
